The Handbook

Style Essentials

Eunice Lee, the designer behind Unis, specializes in restraint when it comes to her brand's clothes. She favors sophistication over flash, quality over quick trends. So we asked her for the essential foundations that every guy should have in his closet. "This is definitely a good place to start," she says. "There are others, of course, but I can see a guy in the pair of the right jeans and a great T-shirt and I am never, ever bored."

The Essentials

One great suit.

Look for a style that you can wear to any occasion or break up and wear seperately.

The perfect
white T-shirt.

Not a boxy shaped "beefy" tee. My "Jake" T-shirt fits in the ams and traces your body's shape.

A few great fitting shirts.

Keep the colors simple and the collars small.

A good pair of chinos.

Simply because they will make you look good.

A slim jean.

Go with either a raw or rinsed finish. Lose the baggy denim with detailed pockets guys. Trust me, they are not attractive.

A fine merino V-neck sweater.

Choose a classic color like heather grey and navy. More durable (and affordable) than cashmere.

Simple white sneakers.

They could be canvas like some Supergas or leather like Common Projects, and don't worry if they get a little dirty.

FYI

Before launching her own line, Lee designed for DKNY, Structure and Joseph Abboud.
